Dorothea Lasky is the author of eight full-length collections of poetry: Mother, The Shining, Milk, Thunderbird, Black Life, AWE, all out from Wave Books, as well as ROME and The Green Lake, both from Liveright/W.W. Norton. She's the author of two nonfiction books, Animal (Wave Books) and MEMORY (Semiotext(e); Silver Press). Her first novel, Katie, is forthcoming from Harper Perennial. She's published her poems in several chapbook collections, such as Snakes (Tungsten Press), Matter: A Picturebook (Argos Books), and Poetry is Not a Project (Ugly Duckling Presse). Individual poems can be found in The New Yorker, The Paris Review, The Atlantic, American Poetry Review, and POETRY, among other places. She edited Essays (Essay Press) and co-edited Open the Door: How to Excite Young People about Poetry (McSweeney's). Currently, she teaches poetry at Columbia University School of the Arts and directs the Poetry concentration.
