She was the former Associate Publisher at BOMB Magazine and the Director of Literary Programs at PEN Center USA. She lives in Brooklyn, but will always be a Texan. Libby is represented by Sarah Bowlin at Aevitas Creative Management. Her book All Good Men is forthcoming from Unnamed Press in 2027.

As a writer, there are many ways to improve your craft. We workshop, we polish, and revise our work—but how does a writer learn how to create a writing practice? A practice can be challenging to cultivate, but do we know why? How does one overcome the psychological blocks to sit down and begin writing? Many writers struggle with the voice (or voices) in their head, the nagging fears, and the persistent guilt that prevents them from beginning or continuing their book. It is more than just the lack of time that stops us from getting to the page.

In this intensive, we will discuss your writing goals and where you want to be. This is an interactive one-day class, not a lecture. We will engage in generative writing exercises throughout class to get to the core of your resistance. I will be taking us through pieces from writers who have confronted these fears and look at several approaches to creating a practice. You will investigate your relationship with your current work in progress—or the one you wish to begin. We will look at what stands between you and finishing your book.

You will leave with a practical plan for your project, but even more importantly, you will change your perspective on what it means to create a writing practice that works.
