Taran N. Khan

Taran N. Khan is an award-winning journalist and writer based in Mumbai. Her work has appeared in publications including Guernica, Al Jazeera, the Guardian and Caravan. She has received fellowships from MacDowell international artists residency, the Jan Michalski Foundation for Writing and Literature, the Logan NonFiction Program and the Swiss Arts Council Pro Helvetia. Her first book, Shadow City: A Woman Walks Kabul was published by Penguin Random House in India and the UK (Chatto&Windus) in 2019 and received the Stanford Dolman Travel Book of the Year award and the Tata Literature Live! First Book award. She is currently working with Goethe-Institut New Delhi to create cultural collaborations between Indian, Afghan and German artists, and developing a graphic novel set in 1990s Kabul.
